With over 4,500 calls handled this year, 2020 has been the busiest year for Animal PoisonLine. The challenges faced by vet practices throughout the pandemic have led to more referrals to APL, allowing our triage service to be put to full use. In 80% of cases handled by APL a trip to the vet is not required – saving valuable time and resources of vet practices, as well as reducing emotional and financial stress for pets and owners.
The lockdown and government restrictions imposed this year have meant many pet owners are spending more time with their pets and exposing them to possible dangers. APL saw a significant rise in calls about cleaning products, hand sanitisers and home baking goods – a true reflection of what has been happening British households throughout this difficult year!
APL remains available 24/7, 365 days a year, to provide advice and information to pet owners and efficiently triage veterinary practice clients. You can find all the contact details below and please be aware that this is a chargeable service for owners (£35 – £45 per case depending on the time of day).
